Chris Gilvan-Cartwright

Chris Gilvan-Cartwright is a contemporary British painter aka The Baron Gilvan. He has an MA in Fine Art (University of Brighton 2000-2002) and first class BAhons (Central Saint Martins 1985-1988). In 1990 he won a two year British Council bursary to study painting with Prof. Nowosielski at Cracow Academy of Fine Art, Poland. He also won the prestigious Royal Overseas league Travel scholarship (1997-98) and travelled to India and Nepal. On his return he was featured on BBC Radio 4 'Itchy Feet' and asked to design the BBC Proms logo for both 1998 and 1999. He has had seven solo shows in london and was included in the Jerwood Drawing Prize 2004. More recently he designed the wallpaper for Channel 4's Big Brother 2010 .
His performances as The Baron Gilvan with Foster&Gilvan and Sawchestra include 100 Club London, Edinburgh Festival, and White Night Brighton. He also is a judge with the Karaoke Circus.
