Wintry brings together painting, installation, drawing, knitting, sculpture, paper-cuts and sound paintings to explore the myth of the European winter.
Wintry is a concept which lives within each individual - an instinct to retreat, survive and distract. During the darkest months, we become a concentrated version of ourselves. The force of winter brings us together, and separates us. Folkore and myth are born, as stories are told, retold and reconstructed with each generation.
The works assembled and commissioned by curators Monika Bobinska, Debbie Booth and Bradley Clark reflect the mood and concerns of a season as a state of mind and imagination, but also of a season under threat.
Performance night on Saturday 17 November, featuring works by Elizabeth Klanga, Shaun Levin, Barbara Norden, Justyna Scheuring, Cherry Smyth.
Limited edition artists' publication - The Wintry Album - launched on 17 November. Album features artworks by all artists in Wintry and is limited to 50. Numbers 1-5 are priced £24, 6-10 priced £36, 11-16 priced £48.
