BISCHOFF/WEISS was set up by Raphaelle Bischoff and Paola Weiss in 2005 to provide a platform for young emerging artists. Initially based in East London, the gallery focuses on contemporary art, specialising in sculpture, site-specific works and installation.

The programme encourages a strong dialogue between the UK and the rest of Europe, reflecting the background of the gallery's founders whilst promoting a diverse and exciting artistic exchange with other galleries around the world. In conjunction with the programme, the gallery has participated in numerous fairs including Art Basel Miami Beach (Art Positions), FIAC, Art Dubai, Art Brussels and Art Forum Berlin.

In January 2010, the gallery re-located to the heart of Mayfair. Raising visibility for the shows, this new space offers the artists a better platform to showcase their work to a much wider audience. The new Mayfair space was host to a wide range of shows, including a group show with Raphaël Zarka and Alicja Kwade, curated by Niru Ratnam and the solo shows of Nathaniel Rackowe, Matt Golden, Maya Hewitt and Rana Begum.

In 2011 the programme will expand further to exhibit more established international artists as well as a broader range of media. Artists include the German photographer Michael Reisch as well as French artist Raphaël Zarka and a group show curated by British artist George Henry Longly.
