Nevan Lahart:
Heavenís Full and the Fire Escapes are Locked

7 November Ė 5 December 2009
Private view: Friday 6 November 2009

Heavenís Full (project) is proud to present the first London solo show by Irish artist Nevan Lahart.

The recession is over but at Heavenís Full resources are still sparse. Making the most of a rather excellent exchange rate for the Euro, Lahart takes over artist-led space Heavenís Full (project) with an installation offering his own irreverential blend of DIY baroque and social commentary.

For his London show Nevan has had a few ideas, but doesnít know which cat to let
out of the bag.
He still hasnít given up trawling his brain for new ideas.
He reckons he will still be fishing for them on the cheap flight over.
All he can say is that he wants to call the show Heavenís Full and the Fire Escapes
are Locked.
He hopes there is enough there to whet your appetite.

About Nevan Lahart

Kilkenny-born Nevan Lahart lives and works in Dublin and is one of Irelandís most innovative artists. Heavenís Full and the Fire Escapes are Locked showcases his work for the first time in London.

Toying with art history from Duchamp to McCarthy via Bosch, nodding to TV culture and video games and playing with political satire, Lahart has built his reputation on the self-deprecating, irreverential humour of his works. His ďcultural litterĒ as he calls it Ė an allusion both to his taste for junkyard aesthetics and to the prolificity of his spawn Ė includes installation work mixing found objects, sculpture, painting and low-fi mechanics as well as performance and video.

Nevan Lahart has exhibited in Ireland and internationally. He is represented in Dublin by the Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, where his last solo show was Ugly Lovely (2009).
Upcoming exhibitions include solos shows at the Royal Hibernian Academy (Dublin), and Catalyst Arts (Belfast).

Heavenís Full (Project) is an artist-run, not for profit exhibition space presenting works of emerging artists. Our aim is to showcase the exhibiting artists work in London, allowing the artist to forge new professional networks and raise awareness of his work with curators, commercial galleries and the press.
