The academic provision of Wimbledon College of Art is divided into three academic schools - School of Foundation Studies, School of Fine Art and School of Theatre. These deliver a suite of specialist art and design courses ranging from pre-foundation and foundation to undergraduate and postgraduate, as well as providing research supervision for students undertaking a research programme of study.

Based at Palmerston Road, the School of Foundation Studies provides a wide range of learning opportunities for anyone interested in starting an art and design education. Modes of study include short courses, evenings and Saturdays, summer courses and full and part-time foundation study.

The programmes offered enable students to develop their skills and knowledge so that they can successfully progress to further study and, ultimately, careers in the creative industries. All courses are taught by practicing artists and designers who use their professional experience to inform the curriculum. Students are able to realise their work to a high level and are supported in this by a dedicated, highly skilled and helpful technical team. Advice, guidance events and open days are run during the year to assist in course selection.

Located on the Merton Hall Road, the School of Fine Art provides excellent learning opportunities through the provision of dedicated specialist undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in painting, sculpture, drawing and graphic media (fine art, print and digital technologies). Film, video, performance, photography, drawing and digital media are offered as minor subjects for all students, and have dedicated workshop facilities and technical staff.

All staff working on the programmes are active practitioners and/or researchers, and students are introduced to the relationship of the studio disciplines to research and professional practice throughout the curriculum. There is a strong emphasis on drawing within the programmes, and students are encouraged to gain knowledge and professional experience through a range of projects, which include working on the Jerwood Drawing Prize, organised and hosted by the College. The opportunity for progression, from undergraduate to postgraduate and from postgraduate to research degree study exists within the School and where appropriate this is encouraged and facilitated.
