The Art Academy is an independent, educational charity established in 2000. It is a community of artists – residents and students – on London’s South Bank that strives to; produce works of art that inspire the mind and open the heart of the audience, train individual artists to reach the highest standards of which they are capable, and provide access to fine art experience for all the community.
A large pool of experience, expertise and knowledge resides within the Art Academy. It covers a wide technical competence as well as an approach to art that aims to include its ethical, spiritual, intellectual and craft-based dimensions.
This broad knowledge is a valuable and unique asset of the Art Academy. It is used for large scale artistic projects, further research, consulting and developing an enduring vision for the arts.
Since the opening in 2000 the Academy continues to grow at a rapid rate, as more and more interest in our services and unique approach is generated. Housed at Lambert House, 55 Southwark Street, London (just two streets away from The Tate Modern) the Academy has 10 Resident Artists, including founder Tanya Russell ARBS, 40 tutors and over 250 students attend each term.
Enrolled on the courses are Full Time, Part Time, Evening Class and Short Course students, corporate clients on Team Building Days as well as School and Community Groups from the local area and beyond.
